Gift Basket Ideas, Materials, And Assembly

When celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or other special occasion, a gift basket can be a well appreciated gift. A gift basket is a container, sometimes a basket, full of many different, related items. There are a variety of container options, filling options, and wrapping options when it comes to gift baskets.

Though typically termed “giftbaskets,” other containers can be used to store a number of gifts. A sand bucket containing beach supplies, such as shovels, towels, or water toys, might be a good gift for a young child. A laundry basket filled with cleaning supplies would be appreciated by any college student. Pretty much any attractive or useful container can be used to make a giftbasket.

Ideally a gift basket will contain several related items. As an example, a basket containing a nice bottle of wine, chocolates and a pair of champagne glasses would make a good anniversary gift. Thus, the contents of the basket can be used in conjunction with each other, and this makes the basket more cohesive overall.

A gift basket is appropriate for several types of occasions. Such a basket may contain fine soaps and/or lotions along with massage or manicure certificates, or maybe even some nice cologne or cufflinks and tie tacks for a man. If the occasion is a graduation, the basket may be a plastic crate containing school supplies, stamps, quarters and bed linens. Newlyweds will probably enjoy a picnic basket full of durable plates and cups, along with a picnic cooler and a blanket.

These baskets are suitable for other occasions as well. You could present a sick colleague with a “get well soon” basket, filled with items to make their convalescence more comfortable, and accompanied by a nice card. You could thrill any children you know with a “winter break” basket, containing items for creating a snowman, and hot chocolate to warm up afterwards. Even a condolence basket can be constructed, with special pictures and memories, to present to those who have lost a loved one.

Another important aspect of basket giving is the wrapping. Although one could just toss everything together in a basket, arranging it attractively makes the gift appear more thoughtful. Some people use tissue paper or “Easter grass” between objects to hold them in place and add festivity. Remember to add a bow to the top to create a polished final detail!

A very versatile example of gifts are baskets full of goodies. A good gift basket can be made up of many different items, such as practical supplies or extravagant presents. What you put into the basket depends on what the occasion is. For an anniversary gift, for example, you might include fine chocolates and wine. The basket itself and the packaging you use should also enhance the gift. If you choose the appropriate items for the right occasion, they will make wonderful and memorable appreciation gifts. Someday you may even find yourself the recipient of one.
